Classic
You can never go wrong with everyone looking and smiling at the camera. Keep taller family members in the middle and stagger smaller/shorter ones on the sides. Kids shorter than waist height of parents, I usually have parents hold. This is going to depend on number and ages of family members of course!
Tickle each other!
As cheesy as this sounds, this always gets me great images with genuine smiles! It also helps loosen people up and relax in front of the camera.
Sitting on a blanket
Adding some variety to a gallery is super important! Clients want different looking photos to display that compliment each other. I always bring a neutral colored blanket with me and have families sit and snuggle, sometimes they use it sometimes they are cool with sitting on the ground. It is harder to pose this way, but following the layout of these examples, you should get the hang of it!
Kiss Mommy/Daddy/Sibling's cheek!
One of my favorites for sure! This pose creates multiple photo ops. The actual kiss, and just the more intimate moments before and after. This is key to creating emotion in your images...having families act natural, get close, snuggle, and be comfortable!
